Go-To Green Smoothie
This is my favourite go-to green smoothie recipe - it is really simple to throw together and super refreshing on a summer day. With only one banana and no added dried fruit or sweeteners, it is still tasty but won't give you an unhealthy load of sugar at the start of the day. This smoothie follows a pretty basic green smoothie formula that you can experiement with: a handfull of greens + a half to 3/4 cup of liquid (e.g a nut or grain milk, coconut milk or water) + handfull frozen fruit + squeeze lemon + any other spices or powders you want to add. With that in mind you can get creative and try all kinds of different combinations based on what you have on hand!
Just a little note about having a “smoothie ready” kitchen – I usually have a few frozen bananas and a selection of other fruit and berries in my freezer at any given time. Frozen fruit makes a great basis for smoothies or healthy ice-cream, and is an excellent way to avoid wasting overripe fruit. Just make sure you let the bananas ripen fully and then peel and cut up them before freezing them in a ziplock bag or airtight container. Enjoy!

PS I am working out of Berkeley the next month. I would love to hear any tips you have for healthy eating spots or food related things to see and do in the Bay Area!
